Call for Abstracts

The Organising and Scientific Committee are delighted to invite you to the 22nd European Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production (ERSCP 2025). The event will focus on “Multi-stakeholder cooperation on sustainability: Role of business, academia, public sector, and civil society in Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP)”. It aims to present cutting-edge approaches in sustainability, environmental protection, and low-carbon economy, fostering collaboration among diverse sectors. The conference will be held from September 16-18, 2025, at the Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague with the PhD Day organized September 15.

We invite researchers, scholars and practitioners (like business representatives, policymakers, activists, representatives of NGOs) to join the conference and present and discuss their innovative ideas, practices, experiences, and methods.

We encourage submissions that offer innovative perspectives, we offer a platform for exploring a wide range of practices, experiences, and policy initiatives in the context of sustainable consumption and production research. We encourage discussion and reflection on the links and gaps between theory and practice. We seek to better connect research and action for sustainable consumption and production with strategies for transformative change.

Submission Guidelines

Prospective authors are invited to submit proposals of individual presentations, thematic sessions or posters until the extended deadline on March 17, 2025. Participation will be possible both in-person and online.

Abstracts must adhere to the provided template. Please read the instructions carefully; the abstracts which do not adhere to these requirements and format will be returned for resubmittal. Please carefully proofread the abstract before submission, and if necessary have it proofread by a native English speaker.

Submitting authors are invited to indicate to which topic their proposals refers. (Proposals that are not aligned with any of the thematic tracks are also welcome.)  The Organizing Committee reserves the right to decide to which topic and which parallel session the proposals will finally be allocated. The abstracts of all accepted papers will be included in an ISBN-published Book of Abstracts.

Conference Formats

The conference formats include:

Individual presentations

Traditional oral presentations in a 15-minute format followed by questions and discussion.

  • Academic abstracts: Authors should describe the problem addressed, the research question(s), the methods used, the major results and conclusions, as well as the scientific and practical implications..
  • Practicioner abstracts: Authors should outline the purpose of the project or activity, the problem it aimed to address, the practical steps taken, the results achieved, its strengths and limitations, its contribution to sustainable consumption and production, and its potential for scalability.

Thematic sessions

Thematic discussions, project presentations, panels, or workshops. Proposals should propose a coherent themed session lasting up to 90 minutes.

  • Academic sessions: These sessions consist of presentations and discussions of original research. Authors should describe the problem or topic the session focuses on and provide similar information as required for academic abstracts (see above). Additionally, they should outline the session structure, schedule, and speakers.
  • Dialogue sessions: These sessions involve discussion and debate on a specific topic, integrating research and practice. Authors are encouraged to use formats that best suit the topic and desired outcomes of the session.

Submission Process

  • Call opens January 1, 2025
  • Create an account on the conference submission platform.
  • Submit your abstract by March 17, 2025 (1st round)
  • You can still submit your abstract in the 2nd round by April 21, 2025
  • Abstracts must adhere to the provided template

 

Review Process

    All proposals and will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee using the following criteria:  

    • Relevance to the Conference Theme: contribution to the conference themes and SCP research;
    • Originality and Novelty: contribution to existing knowledge or novelty of knowledge application/utilization;
    • Quality of the Results: clarity, accuracy and robustness of inquiry approach and the results;
    • Significance and Impact: importance and potential impact of the research on the field. 

    Authors will be notified of acceptance of their submission by May 1, 2025. The abstracts of all accepted papers will be included in an ISBN-published Book of Abstracts.
